Wade Andrews (RadioWade online), was born with a microphone in his hand—well, almost. At just 15, he kicked off his radio career at WLCO in Eustis, Florida, spinning records and charming listeners with his natural flair. By the time he tossed his high school graduation cap in the air, Wade had already hopped between three different stations, proving he was a natural-born broadcaster with an itch for adventure.
In 1997, Wade took a bold leap into the future, broadcasting live from Gen Con in Denver—his first internet radio gig. A few months later, he was at it again, pushing the limits of tech at Gamma World in Wisconsin. That same year, he launched AustinNights.com, the first music streaming site, dreaming big before home internet speeds could catch up. The site fizzled out—dial-up was no match for his vision—but Wade wasn’t one to dwell on “oops” moments.
Undeterred, he kept blazing trails in internet broadcasting while still rocking the mic on traditional radio talk shows. By 2005, Wade’s passion for poker led him to launch TexasHoldemRadio, the world’s first 24/7 poker radio station. He wasn’t just hosting shows and broadcasting tournaments; he was also mentoring aspiring DJs, sharing his expertise with the next generation of broadcasters and lending a hand to others in the online poker scene.
These days, Wade’s traded the studio for the sandy shores of Daytona Beach, Florida. You’re more likely to spot him strolling along the coastline, maybe reflecting on his wild ride from teenage DJ to internet radio pioneer. But knowing Wade, he’s probably dreaming up his next big idea, just waiting for the world to catch up again.
